For someone who is not a major sports fan nor romance book fan, this story won me over and is added to my reread list. A lot happens in a few days, and I mean A LOT, but sometimes that is the way of it. I’ll admit the notion of players eh, it’s not my thing. The tease I received in a book recommendation on social media led me to downloading the sample and eventually giving this book a chance by buying it anyway. I am so glad I did.Alex is so much more than his player status, both on and off the ice; he just has to move on from that and get out of his own way. And when he gives it a try it’s spectacular.Charley has to find herself again after trying to fit herself to her ex.... unfortunately something I’ve seen of people doing in real life. She, with help, quickly readjusts and starts picking herself back up and into her own again. I love that she is also a kids’ books author (for reasons ;0) and all the great moments that inspires.The banter between siblings and friends is fun. The chemistry is something else. The spontaneous ideas are outrageous. Those light bulb moments that they both conclude, especially Alex, are...yes, enlightening.I had hoped for much, but with each getting lost in their own perspectives and thoughts for a while I was concerned what might happen. I would always wish for a good book to be longer and spend more time with the characters but this read well, all in a sitting, and a good book should always leave the reader wanting more even when the story is not lacking. ;0) I do wish there was a second epilogue with a name reveal or something; but I can guess.I highly recommend this story. This was my first book by this author. I hope there are others like it.
